Nuevas lecturas para la enseñanza del inglés
Diversity-conscious. Critical of racism. Grounded in Waldorf education.
Language shapes our world. Narratives shape ways of thinking, values and identities - especially in a school context. With this in mind, a commission of experts from the Pädagogische Forschungsstelle took a close look at the range of texts currently available in English. The aim was to re-evaluate texts in terms of their diversity of representation, their potential to criticize discrimination and their pedagogical suitability. This work became the starting point for the development of a new reading offer for grades 4 to 9.
In summer 2025, the first two titles of a new range of readings for English lessons will be published:
Modjadji - The Rain Queen by Pankaj Sulodia and Miracle on the Mountain by Kavita Desai.
A total of ten new readers and four accompanying workbooks are planned for the 2025/26 school year. All titles follow a clear educational mission statement:
Diversity-conscious and critical of racism in the selection and presentation of content
Waldorf educationally sound in terms of language learning methodology and developmental orientation
Practical for teachers to implement in the classroom
In addition, a digital recommendation platform for the upper school is being created, which offers a broad selection of international literature and provides specific impulses for anti-discriminatory lesson planning.
Our aim
English lessons in which all students can find themselves - with stories that make different perspectives visible and open up new spaces for encounters, empathy and reflection.
