Nuevas lecturas para la enseñanza del inglés
Diverse. Anti-Racist. Rooted in Waldorf Education.
Language shapes how we see the world. Stories shape ways of thinking, values, and identities - especially in schools. With this in mind, a team of experts from the Pädagogische Forschungsstelle took a close look at the Englisch-language texts currently used in our classrooms. Their goal was to reassess these texts based on diversity and representation, whether they challenge or perpetuate stereotypes and discrimination, and their pedagogical suitability. This review laid the groundwork for the development of new reading materials for grades 4 through 9.
In the Summer of 2025, the first two titles of this new English reader series will be published: Modjadji - The Rain Queen by Pankaj Sulodia and Miracle on the Mountain by Kavita Desai.
Looking Ahead
A total of ten new readers and four accompanying workbooks are planned for the 2025/26 school year. Each title is guided by the following principles:
Diversity-Sensitive and Anti-Racist (Selection & Content)
Rooted in Waldorf Pedagogy (Methodology & Developmental Stages)
Practical and easy for teachers to use in the classroom
In addition, a new digital platform is being developed for the upper school teachers: paefo.de/stories. It will offer a broad selection of international English literature and provides concrete suggestions for using these texts in the classroom.
Our Mission
English lessons in which all students feel seen - through stories that reflect diverse perspectives and create space for connection, empathy and reflection.
